"Ah, this is just a dream..."
Kotoko Aihara, an adorable freshman, bravely confesses her love to Naoki Irie, mega-smart, super-talented, socially inept boy from her school, by giving him a love letter. However, before even getting a chance to finish her confession, Naoki utterly rejects her. Since she's in class F, made of the worst students in her high school, and he's the top student of class A, made out of pure geniuses, people start making fun of her for falling for someone out of her league. A dynamic, enthusiastic "Kin-chan" comes to comfort Kotoko after being rejected, but only making it worse for her.
On their way to Kotoko's house, Kinnosuke, Jinko, Satomi and Kotoko run into Naoki and Watanabe, making Kinnosuke snap at Naoki for rejecting Kotoko. Once again, he makes things worse, having Naoki tell Kotoko he "hates brainless women" and making her feel even worse.
"I'll donate if you insist..."
That evening, Jinko, Satomi, Kinnosuke visit Kotoko and her dad at their new house. Shortly thereafter, an earthquake strikes Tokyo and leaves only their house damaged, making rumors about Kotoko at school at even wider range. Kinnosuke tries to help Kotoko by collecting donations from the students of their high school, but Kotoko finds it embarrassing and tells him to stop. Naoki appears at that moment and asks Kotoko to make a way for him to pass, but Kinnosuke yells at him and tells him that it's all Naoki's fault for Kotoko's bad luck. Naoki then offers to give a donation so they could leave him alone, but Kotoko then interferes and tells him that she would "rather die than take money from him".
A friend of Kotoko's father jumps at the opportunity to lend a hand, and in a surprising turn of events they end up living at Irie's house, who's not so pleased with living with Kotoko under the same roof.
